Healing Trauma and Chronic Stress
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress that focuses on how experiences are held in the nervous system, not just in thoughts or memories.
Trauma — whether from a single overwhelming event or from long-term developmental and relational stress — can disrupt the body’s natural capacity to regulate, connect, and respond flexibly to life. Somatic Experiencing works gently and gradually to restore this capacity by helping the nervous system complete protective responses that were interrupted or overwhelmed.
Rather than asking you to relive or retell traumatic events, SE emphasizes present-moment awareness, subtle body sensations, and pacing that supports safety and integration. Over time, this can lead to increased resilience, emotional regulation, and a felt sense of steadiness and agency.

My Role as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), my role is to help you listen to and work with your body’s signals in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and attuned. I support you in tracking sensations, impulses, emotions, and patterns of activation and settling — always at a pace that your nervous system can tolerate.
In our work together, I am not “doing something to” your body or directing you toward a particular outcome. Instead, I help create the conditions in which your system can safely reorganize itself. This often involves:
-
Slowing down and noticing subtle internal cues
-
Supporting moments of regulation and ease, not just distress
-
Helping you build capacity to stay present with challenging experiences
-
Following your body’s natural rhythms of activation and rest
Experienced Safety
Somatic Experiencing honors the wisdom of the nervous system and recognizes that healing happens through experienced safety, not force or insight alone. My role is to accompany you with curiosity and care as your system finds its way back toward balance, coherence, and connection.
SE can be integrated with talk therapy and is especially supportive for those who feel stuck despite insight, who feel disconnected from their bodies, or who notice that stress and trauma show up physically as well as emotionally.
